SPECIAL NOTICE As a small note to anyone looking to follow this blog, a lot of my canon is heavily intertwined with that of the blog BAAGHA and Ajay will frequently be mentioned or referred to in threads so it is strongly advised that you follow that blog as well to better understand references :D!
1. INDEPENDENT & FANDOMLESS / PRIVATE / HIGHLY SELECTIVE / HEADCANON-BASED Basically what each of these means is listed in the following bullet points for your convenience:
INDEPENDENT: This means that my blog isn't tied to any specified roleplay group, I am the sole determinant of who I do and do not write with there are no restrictions put onto my blog that limits who I can interact with!
FANDOMLESS: This effectively means that I am not tied down to or SOLELY affiliated with a single fandom. I do interact with many fandoms and I do have verses for some specialized fandoms however as a whole, my main verse is an original universe there is not fandom ties to it.
PRIVATE: This means I ONLY interact with mutuals, which means if I'm not following you I am not going to interact with you. It's not personal I just prefer to interact with people that I am mutually following.
HIGHLY SELECTIVE: I will be blunt, I have had some pretty unpleasant experiences on tumblr and I do not intend on letting such things continue. Thus I will be VERY choosy on who I do and do not interact with. If I can see our characters interacting and I'm interested in doing so I will follow you. Otherwise I will not. Plain and simple.
HEADCANON BASED: Effectively this means that a large amount of my muse portrayal as well as various bits of information about my muse will be written and followed based on extensive headcanons regarding my character, thus it is important to keep an eye out for said headcanons whenever they are posted as they are pivotal to the character's portrayal!
3. THREADS & MEMES I am here to thread! I'm always more than willing to have multiple threads with the same muse so never hesitate to like starter calls or anything like that because I am all about building up things between muses and the best way to do that is through threading! Memes are also something I reblog frequently. Don't know how to interact? Not sure what kind of plot you want to do? Nervous to like a starter call? Send a meme!! I'm also more than happy to turn memes into threads as well! So always feel free to do that! I do prefer that if you do want to answer a meme reply that you move it to a new post, but if you can't I'll always post my reply on a new post
4. NSFW AND DARKER THEMES will absolutely be present on this blog. Anything darker will be tagged and NSFW content will be tagged approporiately. I'm 18+ so there is a possibility for darker themes / smut HOWEVER I will not do any of these sorts of threads with anyone younger than 18 years of age and all smut ( if any ) will be put under a read more!
5. SHIPPING & ROMANCEI want to come right out of the gate and say that this is NOT a ship driven blog. Any and all ships on this blog will be strictly chemistry based and they NEED ooc interactions between muns to ever come to fruition. I've had a lot of bad experiences with shipping in the past and I've come to realize that shipping isn't all that important to building up a muse in my opinion. Now that does not mean I dislike shipping or I'm averse to it. I am more than happy to explore ship possibilities with other muses and muns however as I have stated before I am NOT going to ship with someone if they never speak to me OOC on the matter. I also would like to point out that I really dislike it when people are not direct with me about shipping. If you are interested in discussing a possible ship then by all means feel free to IM me and we can discuss it. I will say flat out that if there is not muse chemistry for romance that it won't happen. If you do not wish to do a romantic ship that's perfectly fine. PLEASE JUST TELL ME. I am not a mind reader and I probably won't pick up well on passive means of expressing interest/disinterest in a ship so either way if you want / do not want to ship with me please say so. It will make things a whole lot easier in the long run!
6. FOLLOWING & UNFOLLOWING I would like to first state that it's unlikely that I will follow every person who follows me. Please do not take it personally it's just for my own sanity and to keep my dash clean and clear. Whenever I follow someone I make sure to read their rules and bio so that I can get a grasp of their muse and understand their dos and don'ts and I expect the same if we're mutuals. I try to be as easy going and lenient as possible but I do reserve the right to unfollow (while it usually won't happen). I will do it for any of the following reasons:
Breaking my rules repeatedly
Being rude to me for whatever reason
Bashing my muse/myself or anyone who I consider a friend
**Lack of interaction
**When I say lack of interaction basically it means lack of interaction between either our muses or us as muns. If we're mutuals for two months and we've had one thread that has basically been dropped and we've never spoken as muns, most likely I am going to unfollow. I try my very best to be welcoming to mutuals and make them feel like they can approach me if they're interested in a roleplay, but if no interaction occurs at all I'm going to assume you are no longer interested and I will unfollow. It isn't personal, I just don't want to clutter my dash with people who don't expect to interact with me. If you aren't sure how to interact please don't hesitate to message me over IMs as I'm always happy to plot things out and answer ANY questions you might have
7. CALLOUT POSTS & VAGUEBLOGGING: I want to go on record and say this right now. If I ever see you reblog a negative callout post about someone or if I ever see you vagueblogging about me or someone I know, I WILL UNFOLLOW YOU RIGHT ON THE SPOT. I do not tolerate callout posts or vagueblogging and I do not support callout culture AT ALL. I do not care what the nature of the callout post is I don't want to see them, I don't want to hear about them, and I do not want to be asked about in my inbox about them or anyone they're about. Callout posts & Callout culture is DISGUSTING and I will not tolerate it. If this is a problem for you I understand but do not follow me if you plan on advocating a callout post of any kind.
8. READING & UNDERSTANDING THE MUSE: As it's probably obvious already, I much prefer it when people take the time to read my bio in its entirety. While reading the FULL bio isn't required to write with me I STRONGLY recommend it because Karter's full bio explains a lot of various things about him and who he is, the abridged version is a simple overview and will not encompass all the important details of his life. I know it's long but it really does make interacting with me a lot easier so I strongly recommend all my mutuals read the full length bio at some point so you can understand Karter more thoroughly!
9. INTERACTING IN MAIN VERSE: I am going to go on record and say that if you are in any way shape or form interested in writing in Karter's main verse that you MUST read Karter's FULL BIOGRAPHY & the HUNTING 101 page. I know both pages are very long but they are pertinent to understanding Karter & his relationship with the treasure hunting community and by proxy Karter's relationship with treasure hunting as well. If you request writing in main verse and have not read the pages for any reason I will gladly offer you a link. I will also say that I GREATLY PREFER plotting things in my main verse ahead of time, it doesn't have to be incredibly extensive but just enough to have an idea of where to go.
10. WORD USE: I apologize if this is going to sound ridiculous of me to request but going forward I'd ask that everyone refrain from using the word 'KID' to describe Karter in any way shape or form. I am very sorry if this is ridiculous and I understand that certain muses use 'kid' as a part of their vernacular but it bothers me immensely to the point where I actually lost any desire to write replies. Any other word or nickname that ISN'T kid is fine, but PLEASE do not use the word 'KID' it makes me feel as though Karter is only being seen for his age and NOTHING ELSE, and while I recognize Karter is young, 'kid' is an inaccurate way of describing him in my opinion.
11. MAIN VERSE DETAILS: I wanted to point out that there are some distinct boundaries for which my main verse exists in and I'll be detailing those out in this little section: First and foremost my main verse is 'REALITY ADJACENT' what this means that it is a modern / reality based verse with elements of the supernatural as I see fit to suit the needs of the verse as well as the nature of Karter's main verse profession. What this also means is that certain elements will NOT be present in this verse as I have OTHER verses specifically for those elements! If you're unsure of what verse your muse will best fit in don't hesitate to ask as I try to be flexible with working people into verse to the best of my ability!
12. 'BANNED' FACECLAIMS: I don't really want to say that these faceclaims are 'banned' per say but I do want to point out that I do have some level of discomfort that comes with using certain faceclaims and I might not be inclined to follow / interact with people who use these faceclaims unless I am comfortable with the mun in advance! Karter Kane is a 25 year old treasure hunter who has been an avid member of the strict and vile community of miscreants dedicated to grave robbing and hunting for the most extravagant & amazing lost treasures and the most wonderous of lost treasures. VIGILANTE VERSE
Karter Kane is a 26 year old man who LOATHED powered humans. After the death of his parents twelve years prior he swore to do everything he could to raise money to fight AGAINST these powered humans. Working as a black market dealer of rare high tech gadgets that he steals from labs. Until one night in the cradle of summer he finds himself sucked through a wormhole present in one of the labs he was hired to rob and forced into contacting a transdimensional being who breaks off a piece of himself that bonds to Karter, mutating him into a ghostly presence. Making his skin as pale as snow and eyes as bright as the grass of spring, Karter is imbued with strange powers of translocation & Ionikinesis ( Plasma Manipulation ) with the addition of an unpleasant voice whom he comes to call 'Pericles' that taunts & torments him.
A 35 year old man having suffered a bitter divorce and gained a masters degree after going back to college, Karter works partially as a professor, partially as a museum curator, with treasure hunting added once again to his life now as a more safe and toned down version than from his youth. Tired and wiser, Karter returns to the treasure hunting scene taking up the mantle of Tasmanian Devil once again in order to finish facing his demons.
MODERN GOD
Having effectively spent his whole life with only Artemis as a guide to him, Karter finds himself in the precarious situation of being the person to take her place after she steps down from godhood. Now residing as the god of the moon & hunt, he has accepted this duty and taken the role of true god trying to maintain peace amongst his pantheon and keep the peace in his domain.
OVERWATCH
Having spent his whole life on the island of Ilios with no danger or worry to think about, Karter has soon discovered that the world is not as safe as he once thought. After a night of defending his home from Talon, he soon discovers there is also more about himself he doesn't known and sets off to join the ranks of overwatch after the recall was issued.
ONCE UPON A TIME
With Wonderland in more chaos than usual, Karter escaped, with no one left and no place to go he sought out the only thing he could. A fresh start in a land without magic. Finding himself trying to blend in he takes on the name 'Karter' from his CHESHIRE CAT persona but remains to enjoy watching the events unfold around him while doing little to involve himself unless he has to.
OUTLANDER
Prosecuted by Ottomans and having lost his entire family, Karter had NOTHING to do but run. Sneaking aboard a Portuguese man of war and disguising himself as a member of their crew he found himself docked in Jamaica working hard to escape to the Americas, eventually managing to do so with the aid of Claire Fraser. Once there he starts his new life as a pirate of the high seas, strikign fear into the hearts of men and earning his way back to GLORY.

Ties to Artemis
Karter is the mortal aspect of Artemis. To understand why this came to pass you must first understand the significance of his Greek family on his paternal side. The Fengaropolous clan dates back centuries upon centuries as disciples of Artemis back to the time when Greek Gods were hailed as the gods of Greece. This family whose devotion to Artemis never faded even after the old gods were forgotten they continued to pray to her and thus her attention was granted. Their line remained strong, her influence ensuring that all the sons and daughters of the Fengaropolous clan were born healthy and safe ensuring that their faith in her never faded.
Even in modern times, the Fengaropolous children are raised and taught to pray to Artemis as she is kind and will watch over them and the families they may have one day as well. And thus she continues to watch over them and protect their line as a reward for continuing to keep her strong and her memory strong. When Clifford left Ithaca to marry the woman he loved, he was apprehensive to say the very least. After discovering that his wife was pregnant, he spent each and every day praying to her to let his child be born safe and strong as all the Fengaropolous children before him had been.
On the eve of Karter's birth Clifford prayed to Artemis to protect his baby boy from harm knowing that his son would be born a week early and that such a thing could create complications for him. Hearing his prayer, Artemis intended to make Clifford her aspect so that upon Karter's coming of age such gifts would be passed to his son. However the unfortunate accident that led to Clifford's death caused Artemis's gift to be given directly to Karter instead. After Karter's birth and subsequent landing in the orphanage he grew up in, the young boy was left with only a blanket a pure silver ring passed down in the Fengaropolous family from generation to generation, the center of the ring adorned with a milky moonstone and the ring itself imbued with the essence of Artemis's power.
As a young man, Karter is the aspect of Artemis now, never removing the ring he'd had since his childhood. While he's unaware of it, the ring grants him the gift of pacifying animals to protect him until his full fledged power from Artemis is awakened. In addition because of Karter's likeness and strong ties to Artemis ( he's effectively like a piece of her dropped on the mortal world ), she watches over him on his treasure hunts and is partly responsible for his luck and survival on these hunts.
Karter's PTSD
KARTER HAS undiagnosed PTSD.
He’s not cognizant of the fact that he has it but his behavior and habits run parallel to symptoms of a person who has PTSD. There are a few tell tale symptoms and below you will find the list of symptoms Karter exhibits broken up into the various categories put forth by the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF MENTAL HEALTH:
In order for a person to be diagnosed with PTSD they must have the following symptoms for at least 1 month;
A minimum of one re-experiencing symptom
A minimum of one avoidance symptom
A minimum of two arousal and reactivity symptoms
A minimum of two cognition and mood symptoms
Karter Kane exhibits:
RE-EXPERIENCING SYMPTOM;
Bad Dreams ( Had them since age 16 )
AVOIDANCE SYMPTOM;
Avoiding thoughts or feelings related to the traumatic event ( Present since age 16 )

PTSD is also stated to be frequently accompanied by substance abuse, depression, and one or more anxiety disorders of which Karter exhibits the following:

High functioning Alcoholism [ Classified as substance abuse ]
People who have PTSD may also experience feelings of intense mistrust, paranoia, and loneliness all of which are present in Karter’s behavior on a day-to-day basis.
Now I want to go off onto a separate part of this post to explain how & why Karter’s PTSD isn’t easily transparent to the common individual as well as explain some other things Karter experiences as symptoms of his PSTD that are individual to him:
DRUNKEN HALLUCINATIONS: An unfortunate mixing of his alcoholism & anxiety is that he experiences hallucinations of ‘ghosts’ of the people he has killed in the past. Victims of his actions or victims of treasure hunting who have direct links to him that fall under the technical classification of ‘unwanted thoughts’ however this is specific to him being drunk and his own coping mechanisms being impaired while in this drunken state.
FREQUENT OR GENERAL IRRITABILITY / AGGRESSION: A combination of his PTSD symptoms crossing with his anxiety is a general state of irritability or aggressive behavior that manifests in the form of his angry outbursts as well as a generally poor mood the vast majority of the time that while easily passed off as ‘pessimism’ or ‘moody behavior’ is actually attributed to his his disorder. Most of the time however this is more intense when he is not TREASURE HUNTING ( which classifies as his ‘coping mechanism’ ).
HOW TREASURE HUNTING & JOHNNY ANDERSON TIE INTO KARTER’S PTSD
So how do Treasure hunting & Johnny tie into Karter’s PTSD? It’s simple really, Karter’s state of mind is almost tailored & cultivated by the environment he’s been exposed to for a great deal of his life. From age 18 onward, a lack of stability mixed with his PSTD triggering events have only been tempered by the ever present nature of Treasure hunting, which Karter is vehemently attached to. Karter in the vast majority of his incarnations is heavily reliant on treasure hunting to keep him grounded and keep him functioning as a human being, however his condition hasn’t improved unfortunately because Treasure Hunting AGGRAVATES Karter’s already fragile state of mind because of the very nature of the community being very very bad for his mental health. However his unhealthy obsession with it has locked him into it as a whole because the treasure hunting community isn’t a normal or even viable REAL society. It simulates a society that allows him to suffer these symptoms without repercussions or negative drawbacks because the treasure hunting community does not function like a real or objectively ‘normal’ society.
Karter has basically pitfalled himself because treasure hunting does not PUNISH him or make him SUFFER for not trying to treat his own disorder, instead it rewards him and has put him at the top of the food chain because of the destructive behavior that would normally make him unsuccessful in a governed and regulated society with a stable form of government.
On the subject of Johnny, Johnny is another ‘coping mechanism’ Karter has which has the inverse effect of treasure hunting. Johnny too suffers from PTSD which he ended up suffering from as a result of events that occurred around the same time that Karter’s did. But Karter & Johnny’s relationship existed LONG before either of them began suffering the effects of PTSD so their relationship is HEALTHY from the foundation formed from when they were children and in a way they help to ground each other by being present and supportive during times in which these symptoms become overwhelming.
On a rainy evening, December 30th of 1992, Karter Anderson Kane was born in a small town hospital to Alicia Kane. However due to the unfortunate financial circumstances of Ms. Kane's family mixed with being widow to Karter's father who'd died not even an hour before his son was born, Alicia put her young son up for adoption, deeming this a more kind fate for him than a life of poverty and misery. For Karter's entire childhood and most of puberty, he was thrown between foster families, never being able to settle in a single home given his naturally restless nature and unquenchable thirst for adventure.
In his adolescent years, Karter developed the more unfavorable skillset of a common thief, stealing and pickpocketing for the purpose of reaching his goal of becoming a treasure hunter himself despite the constant and often times harsh criticism his desires were met with, however he persisted, and upon turning eighteen, Karter left his orphanage to seek work to finance his knack for chasing myths. As time passed and Karter began to establish himself a bit better into his young adulthood, he managed to find a good job in which to finance his extensive research, gathering as much knowledge as possible on anything that caught his eye in terms of myths and spending all waking hours possible deeply ingrained in records, dissertations, any sort of reliable material he could get his hands on.
While his mind isn't entirely focused on the future, Karter has already begun setting himself up for when he is officially ready to begin hunting once he's gathered enough income. One day he hopes to follow the trail of his own origins and find his birthparents, and perhaps get some closure for himself. However with the impending and constant desire to explore it often comes as a bit of a secondary goal. Now he works hard to get any money he can to support his treasure hunting.
