12.  What makes your character embarrassed?

Not a lot to be honest. Karter’s pretty shameless in many many respects, I think the only thing that really really makes him feels embarrassed is when people make a big fuss about him doing something kind? Like if he goes out of his way to be nice or gentle with someone and they make a big fuss about it he gets really really embarrassed because he prefers to keep his facade of ‘ruthless’ and ‘callous’ for the sake of appearances. People making light of his softer actions undermines that indefinitely.

13. Have they ever been bullied or teased?

A lot actually. It’s where I theorize a great deal of Karter’s general insecurity comes from. Karter, when he was young, was a scrawny little runt for all intents and purposes. He wasn’t very tall and he wasn’t very large mass wise either, so he was always picked on for just being as small as he was because people considered him to be an easy target, so he got picked on a lot, and I consider that to be the real PUSH OFF point for when Karter started getting the mentality of ‘Survival of the Fittest.’ Because in his mind it works like ‘If you don’t want to be prey, become a predator yourself’

14. Detail one secret shame your character feels.

Like I said, Karter’s effectively shameless in MOST respects, but the biggest sense of shame from him comes in the form of his kindness. He DOES for the most part believe that such actions tend to be more of a weakness than a strength for him because the treasure hunting community PREYS upon kindness as though it IS a weakness. It’s why he tries to be nonchalant or more SUBTLE when he does kind things, because he doesn’t want to be seen as WEAK to prospective enemies looking to manipulate or use him.

15. Are they most likely to fight with their fists or their tongue?

FISTS indefinitely. I’ve said multiple times before and I can’t stress it enough, Karter is NOT really all that diplomatic. He prefers to resolve issues by wailing on someone until they submit. He considers verbal or emotional manipulation to be the work of cowards because they’re not strong enough to handle a problem for themselves. People have attempted to manipulate him before and he’s seen it happen and it makes him ANGRY. He doesn’t have the patience to widdle away at someone via subterfuge or manipulation MOST of the time. That isn’t to say he WON’T use such tactics because if you look at Karter’s relationship dynamic with Ajay ( @baagha ) and Sabal ( @sxbal ) he literally CAN’T use his fists because it won’t end well for him and he’ll ‘LOSE’ their little game of back and forth. But otherwise he isn’t a diplomatic person. HE WON’T fight with his words, at most you’ll get ONE WARNING via threat of violence, but when he says it he means it. If he says ‘Yer askin’ t’get hit’ THAT’S the one warning you get because the next step is you getting hit.

16. What is their choice of weapon?

So this one actually varies HEAVILY dependent upon the verse you’re looking at. Typically in Main Verse ( or any other verse where he’s a treasure hunter e.g. Kanetales, Older, etc… ) it’s going to be his Kabar Knife and his 1911 Pistol. They were both from Dan ( his mentor as a teenager ) and they’ve been with him through thick and thin. He still has both and he uses them regularly whenever he treasure hunts. In addition he’ll ALSO utilize his grappling hook but that’s far less common. In his vigilante verse however it’s his PRIMARY weapon of choice because he relies so heavily on it. For Modern God verse it’s obviously Artemis’s Bow and that’s mostly out of honor for the legacy she laid forth and the one he’s trying to make for himself. So it really depends on the verse.

17. When does your character think that violence is justified or deserved?

To be HONEST, I think Karter has a very warped sense of ‘justified’. Because ‘Karter Justice’ is FAR from what people might consider the norm for justice. I’ll admit that Karter contradicts himself sometimes when it comes to violence because he says he HATES being violent and having to kill people but he’s a pretty trigger happy person when it comes to the use of excessive force or violence. It’s not something he ENJOYS, but like KILLING, violence in Karter’s mind is a necessary evil for the sake of survival. Without it he would’ve already died repeatedly, so he may not LIKE it, and truthfully I don’t really think he believes it’s ‘justified’ but he DOES think it’s necessary. In that instance, Violence is only really NECESSARY when it’s needed to survive, which is actually pretty often. However subliminally speaking again, he contradicts himself. He is quick to use violence, and he uses it OFTEN because he subconsciously finds it to be the only thing that allows him to keep control of a situation.

18. Your character wakes up to find that war has been declared. What do they do?

Honestly, just do whatever he can to survive. It’s not like he’s NOT used to ‘warzone’ like settings so it’d basically send him into full treasure hunter mode which means he literally ONLY looks out to himself and his own, everyone else is FUCKED as far as he’s concerned. 

19. If they could have a superpower, what would they choose?

HONESTLY? Super human strength so that fights are so much easier? A big issue for Karter is that he isn’t quite as strong as most other people, and because he’s so small he has to fight to downplay the disadvantage he has. So if he had super human strength that’d made incapacitating & killing people. It’d also apply to a more subliminal thought of associating super human strength with saving people because on more than one occasion people he’s cared about have been crushed by things or fallen off things because of his ability to physically undertake the weight of whatever was causing the problem.

20. What are their hobbies?

Karter’s job is really kinda what takes up most of his time but it coincides well with his HOBBIES. He has a journal with him everywhere so he often times sketches little things of importance. In addition he enjoys the study of mythology and puzzles related to it, so those are the big ones since his job requires all of those things in order for him to be successful. WITHOUT them he would be absolutely doomed. But because of his natural enjoyment and affinity for those things he’s typically quite successful.

21. How do they display affection?

IT’S PRIVATE. Incredibly private. Karter doesn’t typically do exceedingly public affection and despite the fact that he does feel VERY deeply when he cares enough for a person he shows it, but he’s not a man who likes excessive public affection because he himself wouldn’t want other people to be looking on what he considers to be extremely private aspect of his relationship. It’s not anyone else’s business what his relationship is with others and while he tries his best to keep his affections to a private life.

 22. What is the most beautiful thing they’ve ever seen?

Honestly?? That’s difficult because he’s seen a great deal of beautiful things in his life, but if I had to pick one it was probably the dragon he had to kill. DESPITE the guilt that weighs on him, the dragon when he first POPS into sight from the mountain beyond, Karter was so utterly in awe of him. The fact the he’s officially lived long enough to see a LIVING BREATHING DRAGON. And while it was something that was short lived, he’d NEVER forget seeing the dragon. I think of all the things he’s seen Karter would still go out and claim that the dragon is still the most amazing thing he’s ever seen.

23. What do they consider beautiful in others physically?

Karter doesn’t really have a HUGE preference outside of having a male lean, sexually speaking, but the only thing I’ve found he seems to have preference speaking on a PHYSICAL level is with men who are taller than him. I don’t really know WHY, but he tends to gravitate toward men who are a bit taller than him. It doesn’t have to be a HUGE height difference and even then it’s really not a DEAL BREAKER, but it doesn’t hurt when a guy is taller than him.

24. What do they consider ugly in others physically?

Again, he’s not hugely picky on a PHYSICAL level, I think if I had to guess is he doesn’t love it when people have have a lot of insane piercings mostly because certain piercings make him cringe with fear of how painful they’d be when it comes to CERTAIN places, but like I said it’s not a huge deal breaker or even really a HUGE deal for him.

25. What do they consider beautiful in others personality-wise?

PEOPLE who are stable? Like stability in someone’s personality. It’s not even a full on stability but if there is some level of stability emotionally in a person or even just personality wise, he finds that a very good quality because Karter himself is quite unstable in a lot of respects so he often seeks out people who can BALANCE out his instability. It’s like your classic ‘FOIL’ situation in that Karter often seeks out people who have certain characteristics that directly oppose or cancel out his NEGATIVE characteristics.

26. What do they consider ugly in others personality-wise?

Arrogance. ARROGANCE & Vanity drive him UP THE WALL. Typically people who display that characteristic, in his mind, are just ASKING to be taken down like 10 notches. This is is even more intense in his god verse when other gods don’t take him seriously. It literally makes a vein pop out on his forehead for how ANGRY it makes him. Because 1. He’s spent his whole life being picked on and underestimated and he’s of the mind that one day it’s going to stop ( which it really probably won’t ) but ARROGANCE literally drive him to violence SO OFTEN that it’s actually gotten to a point where Karter makes a conscious effort to avoid people who are incredibly arrogant because he has to physically restrain his desire to physically ( and brutally ) assault them.
